A simple and comforting pasta dish with rich tomato sauce and aromatic herbs, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 340 g pasta (spaghetti, penne, or fusilli)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

  • ½ teaspoon dried basil

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or basil

  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Cook pasta until al dente; reserve ½ cup pasta water and drain.

  • Sauté onion in olive oil until softened.

  • Add garlic and cook until fragrant.

  • Stir in tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar, oregano, and basil; simmer 8–10 minutes.

  • Toss pasta with sauce, adding reserved water if needed.

  • Stir in fresh parsley/basil and serve with Parmesan.

Notes

Use good-quality canned tomatoes for best flavor. Adjust seasoning and herbs to taste.
